|Summary=Since 2009 The Gambia has had a National ID system based on biometrics. Innovatrics was the supplier of this system until 2018, when a new National ID system was rolled out. This one is provided by Semlex. The cost of the ID card for a citizen of the Gambia was reportedly four hundred and fifty dalasi at the time of release. This is around 7,000 euro.

Since 2009, Gambia has had a biometric national ID based on fingerprints, for whom the first contractor was Innovatrics.

In 2018, Gambia rolled out a new National ID, this one provided by Semlex.
 
<blockquote> The Gambian National ID card will be rolled out to the public beginning October 1st, 2018. Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of Gambia, urged all eligible citizens to register with the Immigration Department to acquire the new biometric ID card.
