Summary
The Living Labs initiative, focusing on enhancing public safety, conducts field trials financed by the requesting parties. Participants, such as Tilburg University, Eindhoven University of Technology, and companies like Intel and ViNotion, must align their innovations with the lab's goals and contribute raw data to Eindhoven's open data portal. One innovative application, ViNotion's ViSense technology, provides real-time insights into the safety and movements of visitors in Eindhoven’s nightlife areas. It can proactively detect potential crowd congestion or emerging violence, ensuring privacy by anonymizing data. Stratumseind, known for its high violence rates linked to alcohol consumption, serves as a crucial testing ground for these technologies, including Oddity’s violence detection algorithm, started in July 2019.
