زادت الأجهزة الأمنية الجزائرية على غرار أمن ولاية الجزائر من الاعتماد على أنظمة المراقبة بالفيديو لمواجهة الجرائم، ورغم حداثة التجربة إلا أنها حققت نتائج مهمة في مجال استغلال تسجيلات الفيديو لكشف بعض الجرائم واعتقال مطلوبين تم التعرف عليهم من خلال مقاطع فيديو كاميرات المراقبة، وسجلت مصالح أمن ولاية الجزائر خلال سنة 2018 تراجعا كبيرا في نسبة الجريمة مقارنة بسنة 2017، وهذا بفضل تجسيد المخطط الإستراتيجي الذي وضعته من خلال تنصيبها لكاميرات المراقبة التي أعطت ثمارها مؤخرا حيث ساهمت هذه الأخيرة المنتشرة عبر الشوارع الرئيسية وأبرز طرقات الولاية، إضافة إلى مختلف محاور الدوران ومحطات نقل المسافرين بالعاصمة في تقليل نسبة الجرائم بشتى أنواعها. 1

وفي 2009، قررت الحكومة تمويل عملية كبيرة لتركيب نظام مراقبة بالفيديو في أهم مدينتين بالبلاد، الجزائر العاصمة، ووهران (غرب). وبحسب المصدر نفسه، ففي 2013 و2014، تم تنفيذ مشاريع في ثلاثة مدن أخرى لتركيب شبكات مراقبة بالفيديو هي عنابة وقسنطينة (شرق). 2
