وقبل نحو أسبوعين، صدر عن شعبة العلاقات العامة في المديرية العامة لقوى الأمن الداخلي، بلاغ يشير إلى أنه تمّ «تركيب كاميرات مراقبة في مختلف الشوارع العامة في مدينة بيروت»، وأنها «ستقوم بتصوير السيارات المخالفة وتنظيم محاضر ضبط بحقها» بهدف تطبيق قانون السير الجديد. 1

ووافقت بلدية بيروت على المشروع الذي يكلف ٣٦ مليون دولار في ٢٨ شباط ٢٠١٤، ملزمة إياه الى شركة غوارديا سيستمز. وينص مشروع كاميرات المراقبة في العاصمة اللبنانية على تركيب نحو ١٨٥٠ كاميرا لمراقبة وسائل النقل والمارة في أكثر من ٣٥٠ نقطة مراقبة في المدينة.2
