وحسب “عربي بوست”، قال مصدر بوزارة الاتصالات وتكنولوجيا المعلومات، في اتصال هاتفي، إن فكرة تركيب كاميرات مراقبة متصلة بالشبكة المركزية لمصلحة الأمن العام للكشف عن وجوه المطلوبين أمنياً وكذلك المدرجين على قوائم الإرهاب والمعارض السياسيين، فقد تمت أول صفقة لتوريد هذه النوعية من الكاميرات في خريف عام 2013، عقب أشهر قليلة من إنهاء حكم الرئيس الأسبق محمد مرسي في 30 يونيو/حزيران من ذلك العام. 1
