Summary About 300 Dahua surveillance cameras with facial recognition capacity were installed in cities in the state of Coahuila, in northern Mexico. Currently the database uses so called 'exception lists' ('black' lists for criminals and 'white' lists for missing people) made by the secretary of public security of Coahuila and is operated at the municipal level. Information is shared with security authorities at the state and federal level. There is interest on the part of the authorities to use federal databases in the identification process, including data on people prosecuted for a crime and security officials, as well as the electoral national database, which contains records of about 90 million people. The last official information on the use of these cameras is that they are still on 'pilot' phase.

Dahua CEO also donated thermal cameras to the state of Coahuila in 2020.
